Rare Alfa Romeo Testa Fissa to Be Auctioned

Bonhams has unveiled its lineup Goodwood Revival auction, scheduled to take place on September 18 in Chichester, Sussex, highlighted by an ex-Fred Stiles 1930 model/1938-assembled Alfa Romeo 6C-1750 Testa Fissa, the so-called “Stiles Threesome” Spider.

There have been only twelve Testa Fissa models manufactured, of which three were sent to England to compete in the 1930 RAC Tourist Trophy race at Ards, Northern Ireland where they came first, second and third.

After the Second World War, the car ended in a pretty bad shape. It was so damaged that its current vendor bought it in 1962 for just £100. The engine was repaired by the factory, in return for a copy being created for the company’s museum in Arese, Italy. Despite being well used, the car has been equally well maintained over the past fifty years, and is expected to fetch for £450,000-550,000.

Joining the Alfa Romeo is a rare 1966 Aston Martin DBSC Coupe. One of only two models that were ever produced, this is the only right hand drive and is estimated at £250,000-300,000.

In addition, The Beatles’ fans are also given a chance to bid for a 2008 replica of a customized Mini Cooper S given to George Harrison by Brian Epstein. All the proceeds from its sale will go directly to Harrison’s Material World Charitable Foundation, which he founded in 1973.

Other highlights of the Goodwood Revival sale include a 1925 Bentley 3/4.5 Tourer (estimated between £140,000-170,000), a Citroen DS 21 Drophead (£110,000-130,000), a 1973 Porsche 911 RS Touring (£80,000-100,000), an Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 (£70,000-80,000) and a Frazer Nash TT Replica (£60,000-80,000).
