Range Rover Evoque Launch Details

British manufacturer Range Rover revealed yesterday the first details of a launch program which will span for the better part of 2011. At the center of this major marketing endeavor is the Evoque, a two door model which is expected to mark Range Rover's entrance into a new segment.

The launch will comprise events around the world, led by what the British manufacturer calls influential names. 40 people called City Shapers, including Georgina Chapman, Henry Holland, Santi Millan and Jessica Schwarz will tie their names to the Evoque and prepare the way for its entrance onto the market.

The launch of the model will be accompanied by the Pulse of the City mobile app, which will follow the City Shapers movements in the ten cities (Shanghai, New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Berlin, Sydney, Sao Paulo and Moscow) via GPS. The app will be the perfect medium for the Shapers to describe the cities in which they are present and will be available first for iPhones and later on for Android-powered handsets.

As for the Evoque, the model was presented at the Paris Auto Show earlier this month. It is the smallest, lightest and greenest Land Rover ever, packing a new 2.0l Si4 turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing that develops 240 bhp. According to the manufacturer, the car has been designed to be reminiscent of a city's architecture and the people in them.

The Range Rover Evoque will be manufactured in the Halewood plant in the UK and will be sold in over 160 countries worldwide starting fall 2011. Prices have not yet been announced.
