With the Paris Auto Show just around the corner, the cars to be presented at the French event are slowly beginning to show their face, in preparation for the October glamor. We've already seen several exciting previews of the models to be shown there, with the Brits preparing an invasion of vehicles on their historical foes' turf.
Land Rover adds to the number of vehicles to be shown in Paris by presenting the Range Rover Evoque, a model designed as a means to tap into a new segment of the market. Based on the LRX concept (shown at the North American International Automobile Show in 2008), the Evoque is powered by a new 2.0l Si4 turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing that develops 240 bhp.
Even if it is a bit different than the usual Range Rovers, the Evoque packs the same technologies which made the brand what it is today. The vehicle comes equipped with a new Adaptive Dynamics technology which uses advanced MagneRide continuously variable dampers, being capable of a wider operating range.
According to the manufacturer, the system allows for all-weather, all-surface capability, enhanced by the permanent all-wheel drive system with electronically-controlled Haldex center coupling.
Being the smallest Range Rover ever built, the Evoque cuts no corners when it comes to the equipment levels. The model will be sold complete with the following features:
The Range Rover Evoque will be manufactured in the Halewood plant in the UK and will be sold in over 160 countries worldwide from fall 2011. Prices have not yet been announced.
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
