The Ram 1500 TRX is driving off into the sunset. 2024 is the final model year for the super truck, and the Stellantis-owned brand is sending it off with a special edition that debuted almost two weeks ago. But Ram isn't the only company celebrating the demise of the 1500 TRX, as Carlex Design has added its name to the list, and their proposal is on the extreme (pun intended) side.
Christened the Ram 1500 TRX Extreme, it was modified by their Pickup Design division, which brings out the shine within several workhorses. And as they have gotten us used to over the years with numerous other projects, this one features a custom interior and an exterior that's bound to make it stand out wherever it goes.
Since it is out-of-this-world for a pickup, that is, we'll start with the cabin, which features a plethora of upgrades. It features a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery in yellow and black. The upper section of the dashboard, headliner, center console, and other elements sport Alcantara, whereas other components were rewrapped in natural yellow that was painted yellow.
The sporty pickup has four bucket seats that read 'Limited Edition' below the Carlex-signed headrests, a third rear middle seat in black with 'Extreme' embossing, and a special plaque on the central armrest. The custom door cards feature the same 'Extreme' decorations, and we can also notice a lot of yellow stitching, including on the gear shifter and steering wheel that retains the original logo in the middle.
On the outside, the stock Ram 1500 TRX is not exactly a restrained vehicle, as it boasts numerous upgrades over the regular models. Even though it retains the original bumpers, hood, side skirts, and so on, Carlex, however, has managed to make it stand out even more. In the official press release accompanying the pictures shared in the gallery, the tuner says that multiple components, such as the bumpers, fender flares, side steps, engine cover, mirror caps, and roof lamp cover with additional lights have Line-X coating. Some elements can be had with a naked carbon look for sportier vibes.
A bike rack can be seen out back, and the new 18-inch wheels, with a concave shape, a black finish, and a five-spoke design, were wrapped in fat tires made by Goodyear. Thus, the off-road prowess of the potent pickup is still there. To match the reupholstered interior, Carlex Design gave the whole truck a yellow look, and the rear doors and quarter panels have custom decals on them. The tuner says the TRX Extreme Pickup Design project is available at €169,900 overseas, excluding tax, which equals almost $182,000 at today's exchange rates. By comparison, a new Mercedes-Maybach GLS starts at $170,000 stateside. The 1500 TRX Final Edition can be had from almost $120,000 in the US, and the normal 1500 TRX is listed from $85,050 before destination.
