We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: rally race car drivers are the craziest ones out there. The art and skill you need to keep an extremely powerful and yet light car on track, on marvel while going 200 km/h (124 mph) is beyond comprehension. Add rear-wheel-drive to the mix and you’ve got yourself life-threatening adrenaline rushes.
In the video below you get to experience what it looks like to perform a jump on a rally stage with a BMW M3. That’s right, a RWD car that not only has 107 mph (172 km/h) on its speedometer when it jumps but also lands and continues like nothing happened.

The guys in the car are Matt Brandenburg and Elliott Sherwood of Brakim Racing and the video was recorded at the Empire State Performance Rally this weekend.

You should also notice the wet asphalt, tight track and menacing trees that sit all around. While you might scoff at the thought that a tree might be ‘menacing’ you should reconsider based on the fact that they are reaching speeds higher then what your average driver does while going around town.

The car is an E36 M3, modified to cope with the kind of racing it’s doing right now. It has a Reiger suspension, VAC aluminum adjustable camber arms and a custom differential with 50% lock-up.

You can check some more of the guys' action with the car in the videos below, including some nice footwork on a proper track.
