Of course, when Chris Harris took the opportunity to sample some BMW juice, he chose a 20-something year old BMW. He couldn't have gone for anything else. The E30 BMW 3 Series used to dominate the motorsport events back in the 1980s.
The car Chris is driving was originally fitted with a 2.5-liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine delivering 170 HP to the rear axle. It was amazing for its day and age and it still goes like a proper BMW.

Even Chris had to admit at the end of his rallying adventure that the Bimmer was proper fun and a great way to go sideways on the track. Even though he had to abandon because of an oil leak, it wasn't the BMW's fault.

It seems that a rock got twisted between the oil pan and its guard rail and when they hit a bump it was forced inside the engine. That is why all the engine's oil leaked and rendered them unable to continue the race.

The car cost £4,000 ($6,000), including the rally kit and it was worth every penny. Even though the engine ran low on oil, it's fine now proving, once again, in Chris's words that "it's a tank".
