Rain Affected Schumacher's GP2 Test on Tuesday

Michael Schumacher was unable to fully use his first day of GP2 testing on the Jerez circuit yesterday, as the weather had other plans for the day. According to a press release issued by the Formula One feeders series' website yesterday evening, the rainy conditions that started to show after the morning session caused the whole testing day to be stopped before schedule.

Although the morning session started in dry conditions and under grey skies, the rain soon came and upset the programme of the day. The weather conditions worsened in the afternoon and the session had to stop earlier than scheduled,” said the statement from the GP2 Series.

Overall, Schumacher got to test the GP2 car for 52 laps on Tuesday. Despite not having enough time to test the car, and also to give a positive feedback to the GP2 representatives – since he's testing a development car that is to debut in the GP2 Series next year – Schu was happy with how he felt back in a racing cockpit.

The day today was good especially because after a long time I could drive again in a car that came almost close to a current Formula 1. Despite the weather not being what we all would have liked all my senses were nevertheless on full alert - this alone was worth it,” said Schumacher.

“I felt comfortable out on the track from the very beginning, and naturally I'd like to thank our Team and the GP2 series very much for the opportunity to drive,” added the 41-year old German.

Schumacher will take the GP2 machinery back to the track first thing today, while scheduled to do another full day of testing on Thursday.
