Small camping trailers have seen a surge in popularity lately, with more and more people interested in exploring the world without limitations. Considered by many an easy and convenient way of travel, teardrop trailers that can be towed behind small SUVs and even electric vehicles are currently the biggest trend in outdoor living, so here is a new contender in the RV market - the Raidhoo Tundra.
Most likely, the name Raidhoo doesn't ring any bells for many. That's because this is a new player in the market. It is based in Norway and was founded by a group of outdoor enthusiasts with extensive background in the motor vehicle and camper business. The company specializes in building compact camping trailers designed to withstand the Nordic climate, regardless of the season, and their first product is the Tundra, a sturdy teardrop trailer designed to tackle the most rugged terrain.

"Our goal is to offer high-quality and flexible camping trailers that contribute to unique experiences and memories for everyone who loves outdoor life and nature. At the same time, we want to be responsible, through sustainable solutions where you can explore the world in an environmentally friendly way," the company states.

Built with flexibility and sustainability in mind, the teardrop-shaped Raidhoo Tundra travel trailer is touted as a reliable companion for year-round outdoor adventures. Its compact design is focused on minimalism, energy efficiency, and durability, but what really sets it apart is the fact that it is cast from a single piece of fiberglass. Therefore, the cabin shell has no seams and is much more leak-proof than other campers on the market.

It is specifically built for extreme Norwegian weather conditions with fully insulated walls, roof, and floor, while the 6-8 mm thick fiberglass shell boasts a high-quality gelcoat finish that further protects it from damage, increases durability, and enhances the trailer's exterior appearance.

The watertight Tundra measures 380 cm (12.5 feet) in length, 193 cm (6.3 feet) in width, and 190 cm (6.2 feet) in height and has a total weight of 750 kg (1,650 pounds), meaning it can be easily towed even by electric vehicles and driven on a regular B driving license. The teardrop form factor makes it very aerodynamic with low air resistance, while the 15" all-terrain wheels with alloy rims ensure increased ground clearance and cross-country capabilities.

The small size and light weight make the Tundra a very flexible and easy-to-maneuver camper. Besides the fact that you will be able to easily move, reverse, and park it at your favorite camping spot in the forest, at the beach, or any other remote location that is harder to access with larger trailers, the compact size means it is also easy to store in a regular-sized garage when not in use.

In terms of amenities, the Raidhoo Tundra comes with a comfortable cabin with 110 cm (3.6 feet) of interior height and space for a two-person 200 x 136 cm (6.5 x 4.46 feet) bed, a well-equipped tailgate kitchen, a diesel heater, and a 100 Watt solar panel integrated into the roof. Sleeping capacity can be increased with an optional rooftop tent.

The interior of the teardrop is made of Arctic birch, a type of hardwood that comes from an abundant and relatively fast-growing species with minimal effect on biodiversity when cut down. By utilizing sustainable materials with little impact on the environment, the company wants to inspire more sustainable camping practices. Moreover, Raidhoo claims that for every unit they produce, they plant a new birch tree.

Besides the three-piece mattress with backrest, the interior also includes plenty of built-in storage compartments, inside storage nets, and two coat hooks, showcasing efficient use of space. Foldable storage modules offer great flexibility in terms of utilization. And if you want to create a nice lounging or dining setup, you can easily remove the center portion of the mattress and replace it with a small table.

The cabin features doors on both sides, as well as sliding windows with blinds and mosquito net, and a roof skylight with forced ventilation. The insulated walls and diesel heater ensure a high level of comfort regardless of the outdoor temperature.

When opening the tailgate, you'll discover Tundra's kitchen. It boasts a clever configuration that includes everything you need to cook up delicious meals after a day in the outdoors. It consists of a laminated table top, integrated storage cabinets and drawers, and two foldable tables, one of which holds a cooker while the other acts as counter space. In the center, you will find a sliding cutting board and another sliding compartment designed to hold a coolbox. A stainless steel sink with water tap and electric pump and a 10-liter water tank are also included as standard. The top-hinged back door acts as standard protection from the elements.

Apart from the standard equipment, customers can choose from an extensive list of optional features meant to enhance their camping experience, including a roof rack, bike rack, cargo box on the drawbar, 25-liter compressor coolbox, a roof tent, a portable toilet, and more.

Compact, lightweight, easy to handle, and highly functional, Raidhoo Tundra travel trailers are a perfect fit for active outdoor enthusiasts who like to spend most of their days outside and reconnect with nature. Despite its small size, it offers everything you need for both spontaneous getaways and longer holidays without much preparation.

Pricing for the Raidhoo Tundra teardrop camping trailer starts at EUR 27,500 (approx. $29,700) and goes up depending on the chosen specs. It's not exactly on the budget-friendly side, but if you are willing to make the investment, rest assured that it will keep your camping costs down in the long run compared to using other recreational vehicles.
