Radio Flyer Wagon Gets Upgrade

In case you want to re-live the happy moments of your childhood together with your kid, Radio Flyer has thought of the solution: the little red wagon with the well-known company logo on it has been upgraded to 2.0 version!

The new product, called the Cloud 9, was designed by the brain trust at Radio Flyer's Chicago, Illinois, headquarters.

"We approached this product much like an automotive company might with a concept car," said Mark Johnson, Radio Flyer's product development manager.

Having this in mind, the red wagon has padded seats, cup holders, foot brakes and fold-out storage containers but what's maybe the most interesting, it is outfitted with 5-point safety harnesses. So, you can safely take it out for a ride in the park.

If all these weren't amazing enough for a little wagon, wait until you see the rest! Let's not forget we're speaking about a Radio Flyer wagon with digital handle tracking temperature, time, distance and speed in case parents are eager to track their split times around the park.  Also, the wonder wagon is equipped with high-tech bells and whistles.

Music was also taken into consideration by Radio Flyer designers and therefore, the wagon has also a dock for a MP3  player. "Music is such an important part of kids' and families' lives, we thought it would be great to have a speaker system built in the wagon," Tom Schlegel, vice president of product development, was quoted as saying by CNN.

Although some of you might think the little red wagon was just a result of the designers' fantasy, it seems the company has done consistent market research before launching the 2.0 Red Flyer wagon. After that, it was tested on the real experts at home. "We sit down [and] observe how moms and kids are using our products," said Schlegel. "That's where our new ideas come from."

Yet, in order to put their ideas into practice, Radio Flyer's designers are using state-of-the art technology. They use Wacom Cintiq graphic tablets which allows them to draw directly on digital renderings of new products. What is more, the company has also its own in-house computer numerical control or CNC, machines creating prototypes right on the site.

Sounds like now you know what original gift to give to your kid for the holidays!
