No more than 25 grid slots are available for the 2020 season of the R-Motorsport Vantage Cup, and as you can tell, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is central to the one-make and one-model series. In the first instance, the races will take place in Europe. A few more locations in Asia will be added in 2021.
R-Motorsport claims the Vantage Cup cars will be sold to participants with spare parts and subscription services providing logistics, technical support, and hospitality at the racing circuit. Storage and transport of the vehicles and spare parts are two more services worth mentioning for prospective customers.

“We are delighted that our brand will continue to be so well represented in international racing by R-Motorsport,” said chief executive officer Andy Palmer. “The Aston Martin Vantage Cup by R-Motorsport offers interested customers the ideal opportunity to further their motor racing ambitions.”

Described as a high-performance race version of the road-going Vantage, the Cup cars rely on the Mercedes-AMG V8 with twin-turbocharging technology. No information has been provided in regard to the transmission, but based on how the tires look, R-Motorsport could’ve swapped the torque-converter automatic for a sequential box with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

The starting price of the Vantage Cup is €250,000, a lot more than the road-going counterpart with more than 500 horsepower on tap. Over in Germany, the V8 Vantage is €154,000 including VAT but excluding options.

R-Motorsport is owned by AF Racing AG, and Aston Martin tapped their services for the Valkyrie hybrid hypercar. With their help, the British brand plans to enter the Valkyrie in the 2020-21 World Endurance Championship thanks to the hypercar class regulations scheduled to go into effect next year.

Toyota has also announced its entry with a hypercar of its own, and boutique brand Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is also eyeing the hypercar class with the SCG 007. Given that Toyota has the biggest funds and best know-how in terms of top-tier endurance racing, it’s easy to imagine what’ll happen.
