When you’re a successful rapper, buying yourself a brand new Rolls-Royce just 24 hours after your other one was totaled in a crash must come naturally. Just ask Post Malone.
The “Rockstar” rapper, real name Austin Richard Post, ended last week on a sour note, after a Kia T-boned his Rolls-Royce Wraith in San Fernando Valley, California. CBS Los Angeles reports that the crash was minor in that no one in either car was seriously hurt.
Malone was riding with his driver in the $320,000 car, which makes sense: you don’t buy a Rolls to drive it yourself, do you? The Kia tore into the Rolls, but both its occupants were left with minor injuries. Reports say they looked “shook” but weren’t seriously harmed in the accident.
The next day, Malone was riding in style again, this time in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. A paparazzo from TMZ caught up with him out and about, and naturally asked him about his new set of wheels, as the video at the bottom of the page shows.
Malone says that the $420,000 Phantom is infinitely cooler than the Wraith that was totaled in the crash, and states the obvious that he needed a new car to get around. So he chose one that he liked more than the one he had before. He also talks about rap beefs and the recent death of rapper Mac Miller, but that’s not relevant to our story.
Malone has had a rough while, and not just because the recent crash. Days prior to it, his plane had to make an emergency landing after malfunctioning after takeoff. The pilot managed to land it safely, but not before it spent several hours in the air.
After Friday's crash, Malone tweeted “God must hate me.” He meant it as a joke, but no one would blame him if he actually said it in earnest. At least the Phantom will help ease the pain.
