Since Starfield first greeted the world more than five years ago with its first trailer, it gathered so much hype it needs to live up to. With legendary Game Director Todd Howard at the helm, Bethesda isn't shaking in its boots. Even more, it's pretty confident about the reception their "25 years in the making" video game will get from critics and fans alike.
Starfield is hitting Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6 for $70 or "free" on Game Pass. You also can play it five days earlier if you get the Digital Premium Edition for $100 or the Premium Edition Upgrade for $35. For the latter, you need to own the base version. Otherwise, you'll get stuck with an upgrade but no actual game.
Since Bethesda Game Studio first set loose the Starfield teaser trailer in June 2018, it started amassing quite the cult following. Bethesda games are revered worldwide; fans can detect that specific type of DNA across all titles.
Starfield is an entirely new experience for the studio because they've only been making The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. That's until now, with this "NASAPUNK" style, how they put it.
Among the long-time fans that already got the "super duper ultra deluxe fan edition" months ago, some more high-profile fans only recently started to share their love and excitement for Starfield.
Famous artist Post Malone was recently asked while signing autographs if he is going to play Starfield, to which he enthusiastically answered, "F**k yeah, I'm gonna' play the s**t out of Starfield. I'm so excited." The artist also said he'll be touring in that period but has "a nice cool little rig to play on tour."
The brave Twitter user that goes by @Katelynnpwnz said she waited in 105°F heat for seven hours to ask Post Malone that question.
Another exceptionally well-known public figure is ex-MythBuster, Adam Savage. He and his team partnered with Bethesda to build a real-life Starfield spaceship model that could be assembled mechanically.
Adam said, "I couldn't be more excited for this project. It's a celebration of the exact kind of practical effects used in filmmaking I'm obsessed with and that we all love."
The hour-long YouTube video from the "Adam Savage's Tested" channel only gets to the point where the base 3D-printed model is finished and (almost) assembled, but with no paint.
More from this adventure will follow in the coming weeks, and it all ends with them shooting a short clip using the miniature, just like they did "back in the day" with Sci-Fi movies.
Starfield is currently in the hands of reviewers all over Earth (Get it? Because of planets?), and we should see opinions pop up starting August 31. Although, are two weeks enough for such an epic experience of this size?
