Due to instruction ambiguity, Porsche determined that a handful of vehicles may not have been assembled properly. According to documents filed with the NHTSA, the lower rear outboard seat belt anchors may not have been torqued to the correct specification. The fastening screws in question may loosen over time, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Porsche became aware of this problem in May 2023. A grand total of 37 vehicles are potentially affected in the US market, ranging from the Macan and Panamera 4 to the Macan Turbo and Panamera Turbo. Said crossover utility vehicles and sedans manufactured in Germany at the Leipzig assembly plant for the 2016 through 2020 model years, with their production dates ranging between September 12, 2015 and January 17, 2020.

Dealers will be instructed on July 12 to replace and tighten the fastening screws properly. As per Porsche's NHTSA report, owners will be informed of this blunder no later than August 24. Owners can easily tell whether a vehicle is recalled or not by running the vehicle identification number on the federal agency's website.

As you might have already heard, the combustion-engined Macan is likely getting discontinued in 2024 due to Euro 7 regulations and the Macan EV. The newcomer will use a brand-new platform – Premium Platform Electric – that Porsche developed in collaboration with Audi. Said architecture runs 800 volts, and in the Macan EV, the rear electric motor is mounted as far back as possible to achieve a rear-biased weight distribution of 52 percent over the rear axle.

The Panamera will continue with internal combustion for the foreseeable future, even after the third generation goes on sale in 2024. As ever, look forward to six- and eight-cylinder lumps. You should also expect a greater degree of electrification across the board than in the current gen to keep the European legislators happy.

Best known for the 911, the Zuffenhausen-based automaker delivered a total of 309,884 vehicles in 2022. Sport utility vehicles far outsell the 911 and 718 series, with Porsche delivering 95,604 units of the Cayenne and 86,724 units of the Macan. The Panamera moved 34,142 examples compared to 34,801 for the Taycan EV.

Sans destination charge, you can order a Macan today for $60,900. The higher-performing Macan S is $72,300, whereas the Macan GTS costs $86,800. The latter produces 434 horsepower, hits 60 miles per hour (make that 97 kilometers per hour) in 4.3 seconds, and tops 169 miles per hour (272 kilometers per hour).

The Panamera is a different animal in every respect, and its pricing reflects that: $92,400 for the base trim to $206,800 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive. Other than the five-door liftback sedan and Executive long-wheelbase version, the Panamera is also available in Sport Turismo shooting brake-styled wagon guise.
