Porsche Increases US Sales by Nearly 50 Percent

Porsche is becoming a more popular brand in the United States and the recently-revealed November 2010 sales figures are the living proof for this statement. The company sold a total of 2,416 units in the United States last month, as compared to 1,626 units in the same period last month, which represents an increase of no less than 49 percent.

Of course, the Cayenne is the best selling model across the range, with 997 units delivered in November and 7,234 units in the first eleven months of the year. Panamera comes second with 729 units last month and a total of 7,041 units year to date. Overall, the German manufacturer delivered 22,753 units in the January - November 2010 period, up from the 17,578 unit record posted in the same period of 2009.

This can only be good news for Porsche, as the company is looking to consolidate its position through the introduction of a new baby SUV called Cajun that will join the range under the Cayenne. Technical details are not yet available, but the German manufacturer emphasized that the future model, which will join the Boxster in the entry-level lineup belonging to Porsche, will be light and sporty.

“Under the working name "Cajun", this efficient and sporty model will further expand the world’s most successful Porsche segment in the SUV sector. In addition to the new Cayenne, which has clearly consolidated its market position as the most successful sporty SUV in the premium segment, the "Cajun" will also have a very positive impact with its typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility,” it was mentioned in the press release rolled out in late November.
