Porsche revealed new options for the 911 facelift through its Exclusive range: a very glossy wood trim.
If you are not familiar with the Exclusive name, it is Porsche’s bespoke division, started in 1986. The Exclusive branch is dedicated to making one-off vehicles with individual styling and materials. The latest creation of the department is a 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with an interior trim made of wood. That is correct, a gigantic slab of wood in a Porsche 911 interior, directly from the factory.
Like all Porsche Exclusive accessories, the wood trim is selected with the help of a dedicated advisor, who supports the customers in choosing the right materials for the car of their dreams. Since the customization trend is booming, Porsche decided to expand its offering and let everyone know that it would fit wood trim to a 911 if desired. So they posted it on their Facebook page. Until now, ordering so many wood pieces to fit inside a 911 was probably unheard of.
Going back to the custom 911 Carrera S Cabriolet by Porsche Exclusive, the example in the photo gallery attached to this article is finished in Jet Black Metallic. The vehicle features red brake calipers, and 20-inch multispoke rims finished in light gray.
The surprises appear in the cockpit, where the wood trim quickly stands out through the dark brown leather upholstery. Porsche calls the particular shade of leather “Espresso,” and we consider the name fitting, and the color attractive. We must admit that the wood trim suits the interior nicely, so to speak. At least the Porsche Exclusive specialist that helped configure this particular vehicle knew what they were doing.
The wood trim is present on the steering wheel, on the dash, center console, gear selector, door cards, and on the glovebox ornament that usually hides a set of cup holders. While we would not order the wood trim if we were to get a 911 tomorrow, we must admit that it looks better than how the idea of timber ornaments in a 911 sounds the first time you hear it.
Other interior touches include the Porsche logo embossed on the leather that covers the central armrest, along with a set of metallic accents with a polished finish.
