Porsche Cars North America Reports Excellent February Sales

Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars models, the Cayenne SUVs and the Panamera Gran Turismo lineup in the United States, announced February sales of 2,019 units. This figure represents a 32 percent increase over the same period last year when it sold 1,531 vehicles in total.

The result represent the best February showing in the US since 2006 and also marks the ninth consecutive month that Porsche has recorded double digit monthly sales increases over the previous year. So far this year, a total of 4.419 cars, a 33 percent increase over last year’s 3,317 units.

Once again, Porsche's new Cayenne was the brand's top-selling model, with February sales of 936 versus last year when they numbered only 599 units. This increase of 56 percent indicates increased demand from US consumer for large luxury SUV. Also worth noting in February was the performance of Porsche's four-door Panamera Gran Turismo. PCNA managed to shift 442 units last month, compared to 409 the year prior, an increase of 8 percent.

The new generation Porsche Cayenne made its world debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The highlight of the new lineup is the technically sophisticated hybrid drivetrain, which combines the performance of a V8 with the economy of a six-cylinder.

Sales of Porsche's renowned sportscars also enjoyed relative success last month. The company's mid-engine units, the Boxster and the Cayman, recorded sales of 144 and 92, respectively.  Compared to February 2010, Boxster sales were up 29 percent while the Cayman enjoyed a jump of 28 percent. Sales of the German automaker's iconic 911 sports numbered 405 units, a rise of 19 percent over the 339 shifted last year.

For the month, Porsche's Approved Certified pre-owned vehicle sales were 640, compared to 517 last year.
