Porsche was pretty keen to show off the upcoming 918 Spyder at the Gran Turismo EVO event held over the weekend at the Nordschleife. Owners of the last Porsche supercar, the Carrera GT, also heard about this and five of them descended upon the venue.
But for one supercar an encounter with the track’s protective structures mean it left for home badly scarred. The silver Carrera GT slipped off the track and into the crash barrier, resulting in damage to the front right side of the car.

The damage is cosmetic in the case of the wing and front fender. But the wheel will have to be changed, as it’s chipped and broken. The whole rear suspension is broken, and the wheel on the right is completely crooked.

It will be an expensive fix, and the owner would be better of giving it to Porsche as a trade-in for the 918.
