Porsche Cajun Made in China?

Porsche has already confirmed the baby-SUV called Cajun but the question still remains: with all the changes taking place within the Volkswagen group, what's the name of the plant that will host production of the upcoming model? Rumors are suggesting that China is one of the countries to build the new crossover and the reasoning behind this decision pretty much makes sense.

China Car Times writes that since the FAW-Audi factory in Changchun in North East China is already building the Audi A5 and the future Cajun will be based on the same platform, it would be natural to expect that the Porsche model will be assembled there. On the other hand, the German manufacturer hinted that factories in North America, either in the US or Canada, are also in the race for building the Cajun, but the Q5 isn't manufactured in these two specific locations.

Not much is known about the Cajun, except for the fact that it will be light and agile and will offer a high level of efficiency.

“Under the working name "Cajun", this efficient and sporty model will further expand the world’s most successful Porsche segment in the SUV sector. In addition to the new Cayenne, which has clearly consolidated its market position as the most successful sporty SUV in the premium segment, the "Cajun" will also have a very positive impact with its typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility,” Porsche said in a press release when confirming that it will produce a new SUV to serve as an entry level in its range.
