Browsing through countless renderings, you can't help feeling a little disheartened that so many of them will never leave the realm of the digital world, despite looking a lot more attractive than some of the production models around today.
Luckily, even though it happens in the vast majority of situations, it's not the case here. This restyled Porsche 914 will make the jump into the real world, and it's all thanks to the wonderful people at Fifteen Eleven and British designer Mike Turner.

The project involving the Porsche 914 could have been much more straightforward and ended a lot quicker. However, since the 914 is not exactly the most sought-after Porsche, doing something a little more special was needed to draw more attention to the plan.

Therefore, the team decided to replace the original powertrain of the 914 with the more powerful one of a Cayman. It's not entirely clear what type of Cayman nor what generation of Porsche's smaller coupe we're talking about, but whatever the case, it's bound to offer more performance than the initial option that struggled to get over 100 hp.

Instead of stopping there, though, restoration specialists Fifteen Eleven employed the services of Mike Turner (DG Design) to create a slightly modified body. The point was to offer a better reflection of the vehicle's newly gained abilities but also make sure everything would fit with the new mechanicals.

You can see the result for yourself and draw your own conclusion, but we doubt there's anyone out there who won't like what they see. Even if you're one of those who hate the 914, this modern interpretation seemingly manages to take only the best features and give them a contemporary twist. Take the headlights, for example: gone are the pop-ups, replaced by a set of LED units that sit where the turn indicators used to on the original design.

The wider track, the side air intakes, and the hood outlet all give the restomod a much more purposeful appearance, a look perfectly completed by the Porsche 911 Carrera RS wheels. The rear is also a huge departure from the original, featuring exposed bits of the engine as well as a central-mounted dual exhaust.

The plan is to have the car revealed sometime during the second quarter of this year, initially as a one-off only. However, if enough people will show interest - and we expect that they will - Fifteen Eleven doesn't exclude the possibility of a larger production run. So, how much is a Porsche 914 going for these days?
