The Porsche 911 Turbo S is one hell of a supercar. A sweetly organized hell, to be more precise. Nevertheless, this inferno doesn’t come with a matching exhaust sound. While some love the 911’s voice the way it this, there are enough fans who want a more vocal approach. This is the exact reason for which US specialist AWE Tuning has come up with a custom exhaust for the Turbo and Turbo S.
The engine at the back of the 991 Turbo / Turbo S is an evolution of that on the previous-generation 997, but AWE tuning claims they’ve scrapped their 997 exhaust design and went for an all-new approach.

If you ask the tech guys, this is no audio modification, it’s all about the breathing of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo unit. Let’s talk power then. The peak gain for the AWE Tuning exhaust sits at 29 hp and 32 lb-ft (Nm)m, measured at the crank.

These results are achieved using the RSR-style tips. In this configuration, you get the best performance out of the system, as there’s an uninterrupted flow of gas - the tips carry the three-inch tubing right to the end.

You can also opt for the cooler-looking Quad tips, or even choose to stick with the OEM tips. Doing so means you gain 20 hp and 20 lb-ft (Nm) of torque, once again measured at the crank.

We have to remind you the stock output values for the 911 Turbo and Turbo S sit at 520 and 560 hp, respectively.

What AWE Tuning offers is a direct bolt-on system, which includes three-inch mandrel-bent tubing with H-Pipe crossover (T-304 Stainless Steel), as well as 200 cell HJS HD metal-core catalysts.
