It’s no secret that Porsche is working on a new Targa top coupe which is going to be revealed officially in very soon. The Germans have been missing from this market for so long that people have started thinking the Corvette’s was the original Targa.
It’s not, as Porsche beat them to it, but it’s actually Triumph that had this sort of idea and called it the Surrey Top. But a “Surrey Top” doesn’t sound all that cool, not like “Targa top”. Speaking of names, this one came from the famous Sicilian race called the Targa Florio, where Porsche had a lot of success.

Porsche hasn’t offered a true 911 Targa for a very long time now, choosing to a big retractable glass roof instead. But this test prototype based on the Type 991 chassis ic the read deal, even though it tried to look like a convertible using matte black camo.

Besides the depressingly high number of black cars on the German roads, we’ve also noticed this car is just a simple Carrera, which means you’ll be able to enjoy Targa tops right from the bottom of the model range.
