Rod Millen was born in New Zealand where he had qualification for surveying. Soon, he thought that is pretty boring so he decided to race for a living.
And what a good choice he made. After winning the New Zealand Rally Championship in 1975, ’76 and ’77, he decided to move to the US where he won at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 1989 in the Class C division.

He returned to hill climb racing in the ‘90s when he broke the old record time by 40 seconds, in a time when the track was made of dirt. He got the fastest overall time for four more consecutive years, from ’96 to ’99.

Now, 62-years-old Rod Millen is happy to race with Toyota Racing Development in the famous hill climbing annual event on the TMG EV P002 electric race car to break the last year record.

See him talking about the race, the diversity of TRD team and the thrilling car in the video bellow.
