The expansion of the road network in remote areas has caused some animals to have their habitats crossed by vehicles driven at high speed.
While the human need for transportation and infrastructure is essential for the development of society, animals must also be protected. Some highways have animal passages, which are specially designed to allow a safe cross of the high-speed road, but implementing it in remote areas is not cost effective.

Because of the reason presented above and a poor maintenance of guardrails, animals can enter the road, and this leads to disastrous situations from time to time.

From the sad cases that involve protected species getting hit by cars, to the other tragic moments when people die in a crash caused by someone trying to avoid hitting an animal.

This story is a fortunate one, because nobody was injured after a relatively large animal entered a highway in New Zealand. It happened on the Northwestern Motorway, which is the major western route out of Auckland, which had traffic interrupted by a pig.

Two people eventually cornered the animal, and then it was restrained until police crews arrived. Afterward, the swine was taken into custody and delivered to the Henderson Animal Shelter in New Zealand.

According to Stuff, the pig has a few scrapes and is a bit frightened, but is in good condition. Its potential owner has not been found, but it may come from a larger farm that didn't keep track of all of its animals. In either case, this is a happy story about a big and confused animal going through traffic and nobody getting hurt.

If you look closely at the photos of the Northwestern Motorway in Auckland, you will observe that it had guardrails and cemented lane splitters, which makes us wonder how the hog managed to enter the highway.

We often see pigs on the freeway, but they are usually driving cars in a reckless manner. Animal Management officials at the Auckland Council believe that the animal might have escaped from a vehicle that was transporting it.
