Say the name of the Peugeot 205 GTI and every automotive enthusiast will experience a mix of positive and negative emotions. The first come from the monumental success of the late 80s hot hatch, while the latter arrive as a result of the fact that Peugeot never managed to give us a hot hatch that good after that.
However, it seem like the French automotive producer is preparing to do just that, with the 208 GTI being the name of the new game. The company introduced the concept vehicle at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and it has recently told autocar that this won’t be produced unless it can outperform its rivals.

We have to explain that this is an extremely difficult, as we’re talking about cars like the Renault Clio RS, the Mini JCW and the fresh Ford Fiesta ST.

However, the carmaker seems confident that it can achieve this goal, planning to offer a vehicle that mixes performance with premium features. All we know so far is that the engine will develop up to 200 hp and that the company wants the handling to be exquisite.
