It took Peugeot a little over a year to bring the new e-308 to the United Kingdom, but they have finally launched it. Available as a hatchback only, it is a bit more expensive than the Volkswagen ID.3, which is one of its biggest rivals in the electric compact segment.
The French company offers it in three trim levels. These are the Allure, GT, and First Edition, with the latter being available in limited numbers at launch only. The MRRP stands at £40,050 ($49,613) for the entry-level, £42,250 ($52,339) for the mid-range, and £42,080 ($52,128) for the limited variant. The base VW ID.3, on the other hand, starts from £37,115 ($45,977).
All versions of the 2023 Peugeot e-308 feature 18-inch alloys, tinted rear windows, a chrome grille, and a high-gloss black rear panel with chrome appointments. The Allure is offered with 3D Connected navigation, natural voice recognition, a reversing camera, and a plethora of safety and driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.
Stepping up to the Allure grade, customers will get the Matrix LED headlights, 3D LED taillights, a specific grille pattern., and front parking sensors. The Peugeot shield decorates the front quarter panels of this model, and on the inside, it features a digital instrument cluster, Alcantara upholstery with adamite stitching, embossed aluminum trim on the door cards and dashboard, aluminum entry sills and pedals, and multi-color ambient lighting.
Rounding off the offering is the First Edition version of the 2023 e-308. The limited model comes with a choice of three colors: Selenium Gray, Olivine Green, and Okenite White. The Peugeot logo was embossed into the front headrests, and the Belomka Evo Tri-Material Blue woven cloth that features an Isabella leather effect and Mistral Alcantara is said to be exclusive to this model.
Other highlights, depending on the selected specification, include the additional USB-C sockets, smartphone slots, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, massaging front seats, a fully customizable digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a heat pump that is standard. Those sitting behind the wheel can select between three driving modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, with the Brake mode allowing energy recuperation when the driver lifts off the throttle.
