Have you guys noticed how Peugeot is "luxury" this and "premium" that? No?! Let us give you an example from the press release:
"The Peugeot designers and engineers have created a hatchback that is audacious, intuitive and modern, to a refined and classy design. […] A refined interior and innovative instruments and controls (the Peugeot i-cockpit) promise a great driving experience. Its high level of quality, the result of a very ambitious initial design brief, positions the vehicle among the best, embodying Peugeot's move up-market."
That's a bold claim for a completely average car, probably more average than the Kia cee'd and Hyundai i30. Can Peugeot really make such a claim, especially when they've failed to compete at the top end of the market? The French carmaker needs at lest one very serious car with both performance and true luxury, not what the 308 has.
They need a flagship sedan that people will buy. After all, Hyundai has the Genesis and Equus, while Kia has the K9. Peugeot needs something a little bit like this rendering, the 608 four-door coupe. It was created a few days ago by renderer Antoine51 and looks a lot like the Porsche Panamera.
It would be so wrong for Peugeot to suddenly copy the Panamera, but it's even more wrong to continue bragging about luxury without a flagship.
