French automaker Peugeot is set to introduces an all new concept car at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April. Dubbed 6008, the new study is actually a crossover SUV based on Citroen’s Wild Rubis concept.
According to Auto Express, the 6008 will represent Peugeot’s attempt to push upmarket and rival vehicles such as the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. The crossover will share the underpinned by the same platform as the 508 sedan and borrow a number of styling cues from the company’s 2008 and 308 models.
The Peugeot 6008 concept will preview a production vehicle that will be launched in China at first, with European sales to begin sometime in 2016.
“We clearly need to be in that market. The only question is whether it’s a 4x4. In Europe, 80 percent of SUVs are 4x2s – we have the functionality of 4x4s with our HYbrid4 technology,” Peugeot director general, Maxime Picat, told Auto Express.
