Paul Casey Wins Volvo Golf Champions in Bahrain

Whereas the auto makers conducting their business in the US have the Super Bowl, for instance, the Swedish from Volvo have quite a passion for golf. A major support of the sport, and sponsor of several championships across the globe, Volvo is continuing to pour money and resources into the sport.

The expansion of the Volvo involvement in golf continued this year with the star of a new challenge, the Volvo Golf Champions in Bahrain. The competition, which concluded this weekend, was won by Englishman Paul Casey.

Winner of the 2006 Volvo China Open, Casey managed to score a tight victory after winning by a single shot from Sweden's Peter Hanson. He finished on 20-under-par, one ahead of Hanson and Miguel Angel Jimenez.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to have secured my place in the Volvo World Match Play Championship, " said Casey, "I came with an injury and obviously hope to do be able to perform much better injury-free this time."

"It is an important two weeks on the European Tour, the Volvo World Match Play Championship followed by the PGA Championship. New format this year, the names confirmed so far are some of the best there are and it's going to be a great week."

After Bahrain, Volvo is gearing up for the most important event of this half of the year, the
Volvo China Open. The 17th edition of the tournament will take place between April 21 and 24, a prime-time date on the European Tour and OneAsia schedules, at the Luxehills International Country Club in Chengdu.
