After seeing the dogs which can drive a car, nothing will surprise us, really. However, this contraption, and the way in which it is operated have impressed us. It is an electric buggy, which can be operated rather simply by a parrot, which can use its beak to move a joystick, and therefor move the buggy.
It is the creation of Andrew Gray, a computer engineering student at the University of Florida, who was fed up with his African Grey parrot misbehaving while he was away. And thus, he built the Bird Buggy, which allows his parrot, Pepper, to drive around at will, without needing any additional attention - we can only imagine that the parrot is rather pleased with the contraption, and such a wondrous machine undoubtedly takes up a lot of his time.
Also, to prevent Pepper from bumping into anything, the buggy is fitted with a front-facing infrared sensor, which detects obstacles, and can automatically ‘dock’ or park the vehicle using both the sensor and a small camera. It can then recharge and Pepper will be on his way yet again...
