Apart from the distant battle BMW is doing with Mercedes-Benz in overall sales, their respective hardcore performance brands are also involved in a similar fight.
The BMW M division sold 31,282 units last year, falling just short of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG that posted over 32,200 deliveries. However, this was the best year for M, by far, posting an overall increase of 14 percent.

2014 is expected to be even better, with new models in the range. You see, last year was marked by the dropping demand for a couple of models like the E9x M3 and X5 M that were entering their last months of production.

This year, the F80 and F80 M3 and M4 models will pick up the gauntlet, soon to be followed by the F85 X5 M, joining the battle with the AMG giant. On top of these 3 new M models, the M Performance automobiles will also grow sales with the introduction of the M235i on the North American market and the M50d X5 in other places of the world.
