Iced up roads pose a real threat to all vehicles, especially those which are very heavy, and thus have a lot of inertia and are very difficult to stop. The out-of-control 18-wheeler in this video is headed straight for the car with the dash-mounted camera, and a fraction of a second before the head-on impact, the driver is just able to avoid the worst part of the crash.
The truck just slides to the left of the car (though judging by the sound, it may have scraped its side), which ultimately ends up in the snow on the side of the road, planted at the base of a two-legged sign. The car driver was extremely lucky, in this case, because if the impact would have been head-on, the outcome would have been much more severe, with bad injuries and even deaths.
Thankfully, luck was on the driver’s side, this time, and in the end everybody lived to tell the tale . . .
