Few things that don't involve your family and close ones hurt more than denting your brand-new car, and a new study conducted in Britain shows that one in three drivers does that before the second month of ownership is over.
I'd laugh at that information if, way back in 2006, I weren't that one driver, wedging by brand-new car into the back of another the very day after picking it up from the dealer. So, based on this experience, I would suggest you don't laugh either, especially if you plan on acquiring a car anytime soon. You don't want to jinx it, do you?

The research was carried out by car-crash management firm Accident Exchange and revealed that 32 percent of new car owners don't get through the first 60 days of driving their car without being involved in some sort of traffic incident, be it minor or more serious (as this guy found out).

Particularly, the report has singled out the 57th day after the vehicle's registration date to be the most accident-prone. It may sound stupid, but if we start doubting numbers, what else is there to trust?

The data was collected over a one-year period starting March 2015 and ending with the last day of February 2016, during which 2.2 million accidents were recorded in total. Apart from the surprisingly high chances of hitting your sparkling new baby, the study also revealed another interesting fact: people involved in an accident (regardless of the car's age) tend to buy a new car within six months of the incident - 63 percent of them, to be more precise. Does that mean they blame the car for it, or is it a wake-up call that they need a more modern car with better safety ratings? I guess we'll know when we'll be in this situation.

The company's experts, the Daily Mail reports, have even released a list of possible causes: the larger size of new cars, the abundance of electronics and distracting entertainment features, the probable power upgrade, the new controls, the use of mobile phones or the ever-busier traffic are just a few of the reasons behind this scary statistic.
