Twin-Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo Proves Hard to Master, Has Ridiculous Crash

With the exception of special editions, the Lamborghini Gallardo comes with all-wheel-drive, which, in theory, should keep one safe through a tight corner where you can't go too fast.

Many owners who choose to take their Gallardos down the twin-turbo route, a practice that's getting more and more traction (no pun intended) these days, put their trust in the AWD of the supercar when going for the double-the-power card.

Alas, the Gallardo's AWD, which lacks electronic control, won't save you from yourself, a problem that you can't overcome even in AWD supercars that rely heavily on electronics, such as the Nissan GT-R.

The latest example of this comes in the piece of footage below, which shows a twin-turbo Gallardo having a ridiculous crash.

Present at a British high-octane event called Brooklands Auto Italia, the Lambo driver was supposed to tackle a slow corner in damp conditions (yep, the infamous British weather helped).

Now, we're dealing with a Heffner twin-turbo Gallardo here, which means the Lamborghini delivers around 1,000 hp. As the supercar came round the bend, it lost traction for a brief moment and, as it regained it, the driver overcorrected.

This sent the Lambo towards the barrier on the side of the track and the guy behind the wheel never managed to bring the situation back on track. Not only was this low-speed accident silly, but the damage on the car proved heftier than expected.

As we can see towards the end of the clip, when the Gallardo is taken away on the back of a platform truck, this was the kind of crash that could convince a non-car person the Gallardo comes with all-wheel-steering.

Perhaps this crash should serve as a free, eye-catching driving lesson to all those who wish to get behind the wheel of hyperpowered machines and flog them.
