Porsche Nurburgring Crash Shows How a Track Accident Could Turn into a Disaster

The moments just after a crash can sometimes be just as important as those that precede the accident and we're here to show you a Nurburgring crash that could've easily turned into a disaster.
As you'll be able to see in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, we're dealing with a Cayman that exits a corner... the other way around - now, if this had been a 911, many people would've been tempted to say it's the car's fault for its rear end exiting the bend before the rest of the vehicle, but since we're dealing with a mid-engined Zuffenhausen machine, the driving error is obvious.

After the Porsche hits the barrier on the side of the circuit, it carries on spinning and stops mid-track, facing the racecars that had followed it before the unfortunate incident.

While the impact described above wasn't all that serious, this is the point where the whole adventure could've gone horribly wrong - you can see the racecars exiting the bend at full speed, with many drivers struggling to avoid the stationary Porsche at the last moment.

In fact, a BMW even ends up stepping on the grass and sliding in a way that could've caused another accident, all in the effort to not hit the Cayman sitting in the middle of the track - when you're out there on the circuit, the idea that you know the layout and you can push the car as hard as the grip allows, which is obviously a positive path, makes you vulnerable to such situations.

The only good part of the story is that, despite more than one driver being close to hitting the Porsche, the Cayman's initial impact wasn't followed by a second or third hit, with all the other cars managing to go past the moment untouched.
