We've seen lots of different camper van designs here on autoevolution, from minimalistic to rustic, modern, and more. But every once in a while, I stumble upon truly one-off designs, such as the rig I'd like to talk about today. Meet Bev and her "Ava Van Dango" camper van, a fancy Victorian boudoir on wheels.
The beauty of developing a custom camper van conversion is that you can add a personal touch to your mobile home on wheels. This usually involves creating your ideal layout and adding various design touches, such as decorations and color schemes. In Bev's case, she had a unique vision to fulfill, and it came out looking incredible.

What we have here is a 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500. Bev spent almost two years gathering ideas for her van, and Jonnie and the MidWest Van Builders team helped bring her vision to reality. Glancing at the vehicle from the outside, you can tell it's a home on wheels, but nothing hints towards the unique design you'll find inside.

A cool feature of this ProMaster is that it comes with two main doors, one on each side. However, only one can be used to enter the camper, as the galley blocks the other one.

You're instantly transported back in time as soon as you step inside the van. The interior is covered in Victorian wallpaper, and the van's burgundy exterior color theme continues inside.

A reversible couch covers part of the entryway. What I mean by reversible is that the back cushion can be adjusted so you can sit facing the interior or outside. Underneath it, you'll discover a fridge box.

Right across from the couch, you'll notice the galley. The cabinetry is covered in mirror plexiglass encased in old picture frames. Moreover, the galley features a wooden countertop, a gold sink, and a matching gold icemaker.

No stovetop is integrated into the galley, so we'll have to assume Bev uses a portable one and stores it in one of the drawers. The nice thing about having two large doors for your van is that you get proper ventilation, so cooking inside won't be an issue.

When Bev needs to eat or work, she can sit on the couch and use the agate stone table, which fits perfectly with its surroundings. In fact, it used to be a nightstand, and Bev repurposed it for her camper van.

Perhaps the craziest design element you'll find in this rig is the ceiling. Van lifers typically opt for wooden planks for the top, but Bev went for these plastic squares with this intricate design. Moreover, since they're made from plastic, the impact on the van's weight is insignificant.

If you couldn't tell by now, Bev is really fond of integrating frames into her camper's aesthetic. For instance, even the ceiling A/C has a frame, as well as the outlets near the galley.

Bev also knew exactly how she wanted the bathroom door to look – it's built with a pine inset, resin, tempered glass, and covered in a window film. Step inside and discover a decently sized space with a shower and toilet.

The wardrobe is located directly across from the bathroom. It comes with two shelves, a drawer, and a closet. You can tell Bev is into the finer details, as even the closet features ornate corners and a lion's head pull.

And lastly, there's the bedroom. Just like in many other camper builds, the bed sits higher up top, so Bev needs a step up to get in bed. Around, you'll notice two Maxxair fans, some lights, and two small windows. Of course, the windows have frames as well as matching covers.

When you look toward the rest of the interior from the bedroom, the mirrors might confuse you a bit. There's one on each side of the hallway, creating the impression of more space.

The area underneath the bed serves as a garage, and it was ingeniously compartmentalized to fit Bev's needs. A Bluetti AC300 3000 W inverter occupies part of the garage. Another large compartment is meant for Bev's foldable e-bike, while a colossal drawer underneath is an extra storage space. The water system is also housed in the garage, behind a velcro door– it features a 20-gallon (76-liter) water tank connected to a 4-gallon (150-liter) water heater.

It's safe to say that Bev's home is truly one of a kind. While some may consider this aesthetic a bit kitschy, you can clearly tell she is delighted with how her home turned out. After all, that is most important. This van successfully mixes over-the-top expression, practicality, and comfort.

Props should also be given to the builders, as they have demonstrated excellent craftsmanship. Jonnie explained that it took her around 374 hours to build. Although we don't have any exact info on the cost, Bev explained that the price is about the same as for a typical build.
