One New Camaro Coming Every Six Months

Having filmed and aired the most-watched video ad in history during the Super Bowl (the Miss Evelyn clip), American manufacturer Chevrolet confirmed, once again, what it knew for decades: Americans love muscle cars.

With that in mind, a new plan to steal the customers right from under rival's Mustang wheels was born. According to that plan, the Camaro range will get richer every six months, with the addition of a new limited or special version of the model every six months, for the following years.

Although the details of the plan were not released, it would appear that GM's headquarters are buzzing with emotion at the prospects of expanding the range with, why not, Camaro nameplates from the past.

"Our plan is to keep evolving the Camaro," said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for the Camaro in an interview with Autonews. "That is the beauty of the Camaro. It has so much of a rich heritage that we can put together the right combination of content. We have a lot of rich names to choose from."

Apparently, the first new special edition Camaro, after the ZL1 presented at the Chicago Auto Show, will be offered this spring in the form of replicas of the 2011 Camaro SS convertible which paced the Indianapolis 500 race. 500 units of them will be made, according to Autonews.

This limited edition will be followed by Camaro Synergy, a lower-priced Camaro, and later in the year a special version meant to honor Bumblebee's appearance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
