If you're looking for a tiny home on wheels offering a bunch of room, a popular option is a converted school bus. Today, I'm checking out a beautifully converted bus that's for sale – there's a twist, however. Unlike most of the buses I've written about, this one is located in New Zealand.
Meet Haley and Devon, the owners and builders of this 1995 Isuzu LV bus, which measures 11 meters (36 feet) in length. It's designed to be a full-time, off-grid home. Moreover, the renovation is brand new, and nobody has lived in it. Oh, and its odometer currently reads 185,000 km (114,954 miles).

This isn't the couple's first bus turned mobile home project – a few years ago, they converted a 1987 Hino Rainbow, and they ended up selling it. Using all the experience they gained from that build, they converted this unit.

Let me start things off with this rig's exterior. It's finished all around in a matte, mint green color with white accents, which definitely makes it unmissable on the road. Like most other rigs I've written about, this unit boasts multiple exterior storage compartments, where the duo stores the bus and house batteries and propane canisters.

Other notable exterior elements are a 4 x 2.50-meter (13 x 8-foot) awning and an 8-liter gas water heater, a reverse camera, a diesel heater, and four 210 W solar panels on the roof.

To enter, you'll have to use the front door located on the left side of the rig. As soon as you open it, you'll start seeing the fine design elements Haley and Devon opted for. For instance, the entrance stairs are finished with tiles depicting plants. On the right, you'll notice two cubbies boasting the same mint green color used on the bus's body.

Before we go further, let me tell you more about this interior's aesthetic. Haley and Devon chose vinyl planks for the floor and gave the living space a white look, with white walls, ceiling, and cabinetry complemented by wood tones.

Step deeper inside, and you'll be in the seating area. It consists of two couches (one on each side) with seatbelts and storage underneath and a sizeable swivel table. Moreover, the space is very well-lit due to the large house windows on both sides of the rig, which can also be fully slid open.

Next up, we have an L-shaped kitchen. It features two overhead cabinets, an enormous double sink, a spacious, residential-size fridge/freezer with storage space above, many drawers, and a separate counter integrating an oven with a three-burner stove. Another distinctive storage space I haven't seen on any other rigs is a Lazy Susan, a rotating turntable housed in a cabinet. Moreover, the kitchen sticks out aesthetically due to a beautiful blue tiled backsplash.

Because of the L-shape, the rest of this bus's interior is hidden away from the front part. Step deeper inside, and you'll pass by the electrical system cabinet. The 24 V power system's highlights are two 100 Ah batteries, an inverter, and a solar charge controller connected to the 840 W solar panels.

While we're on the topic of utilities, you should know that the plumbing system is ready for off-grid use. The bus is equipped with a 248-liter (66-gallon) freshwater tank, a 165-liter (44-gallon) greywater tank, and an 11-liter (3-gallon) water pump.

The bathroom is made out of two separate parts. One is a shower, boasting a ceiling fan and a wall with the same design we saw on the entry stairs. The other one has a composting toilet and three shelves.

But wait – it gets even better. Right past the shower, you'll find a full-size washing machine and a slide-out fridge/freezer box.

There's one more area remaining before we get to the bedroom: a sizeable closet. In fact, it has two parts: one's a hanging closet with three spacious drawers underneath, while the other consists of four smaller drawers and two cupboards.

You'll notice some interesting parts of the bedroom. Besides the huge, super king-size bed, you also get a nook with a flip-up table that can be used as a small desk, a monitor on a swivel mount, and a space underneath the bed that can serve as a dog's bedroom.

For storage, you can use two large cupboards. Or, better yet, you can lift the bed to reveal a fully carpeted space to store the bulkiest of items.

All in all, this one-of-a-kind creation can make off-grid living truly luxurious. It offers seemingly endless storage space, a roomy and cozy interior, and all the amenities you need to enjoy life on the road.

As I mentioned before, this converted bus is currently for sale and ready for pick-up in Waipu, Northland, New Zealand. Haley and Devon are offering it for NZ$129,000 ($78,060 or €71,940).
