The 2024 Toyota Tacoma will be a star on the big screen. It will show up this summer in the new superhero movie Blue Beetle.
The name of the movie might be a bit confusing for a car enthusiast. But no, there is no Volkswagen Beetle in the superhero motion picture. “Oh, no, not another superhero movie!” you might say. But wait and see!

Directed by Angel Manuel Sato, the action-packed Blue Beetle tells the story of Jaime Reyes, a young man who returns home after graduating college to find out that things have changed while he was away. He is given an "ancient relic of alien biotechnology" referred to as the Scarab. That is what turns Jamie, played by Solo Mariduena, into the Blue Beetle with incredible super powers.

The redesigned 2024 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck will be in theatres all over the world starting August 18. The Japanese carmaker is the official automotive partner of the production so we are bound to see plenty of the company’s products on the big screen.

An older Toyota is part of the motorized movie cast as well. It is set to play the part of the "Reyes’ beloved family vehicle," affectionately referred to as the "Taco," but also "the pride and joy of Jamie’s Uncle Rudy."

The carmaker has also launched a campaign to promote the Warner Bros. Pictures movie, as well as the redesigned mid-size pickup truck.

On the market since 1995, the Toyota Tacoma is currently in its fourth generation. The model is available as an Xtra Cab or Double Cab with either a five- or a six-feet bed. Customers can choose one of the ten trims that Toyota offers, with the SR being the base version and the Trailhunter sitting at the top of the range. The latter is equipped with an Adaptive Variable Suspension, an integrated high-output air compressor, and sports a heavy-duty version of the bed rack, capable of supporting the additional weight of a tent, for instance.

The compact pickup truck is built on the TNGA-F architecture. The engine lineup is comprised of the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in three output versions, starting with 228 horsepower (231 PS), going to 270 horsepower (274 PS), and hitting 278 horsepower (282 PS). The power plant is mated to an intelligent six-speed manual with automatic rev matching and anti-stall technology.

An all-new I-Force Max hybrid powertrain is also in the lineup. It brings together the turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with an electric motor that is integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.87-kWh nickel metal hydride battery. The system lets out a total of 326 horsepower (336 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
