It is now official: BWM and Toyota are joining forces for clean propulsion technology, with the two companies today announcing that they have signed a memorandum of understanding for this.
BMW will make the first move, with the German carmaker set to supply 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter clean diesel engines to Toyota - for the European market- from 2014.
As for the other side of the deal, the two carmakers will collaborate on the development of next-generation lithium-ion batteries - BMW is arriving late at the hybrid table, but the Bavarians are planning to make a special entry. The two companies will also collaborate on other projects that have not been disclosed yet.
