Suppose you never played or even felt the slightest urge to try Cyberpunk 2077 until now, be it because of bugs or other technical difficulties. In that case, there won't be a better time to play the standard game than now. The Phantom Liberty DLC starring megastar Idris Elba is coming out September 26, and it's the final piece of content DLC this game will ever have. The devs are switching to Unreal Engine 5 and ditching their in-house REDegine, so Cyberpunk 2 will look completely different when it comes out.
Reviewers and players are in love with Cyberpunk's latest Update 2.0, and for good reason. It revamped gameplay elements and fixed a bunch of stuff while including new animations for your character.

The most exciting thing is the newly added vehicle combat gameplay mechanic. You can engage in combat while driving and shoot from either a 3rd-person or 1st-person perspective. Some cars even come packing machine guns strapped to the hood or sides.

If you're more of a 2-wheeled kind of player, then maybe you'll be happy to know you can even use melee weapons while riding. Oh, and vehicle tires can be shot or cut open with a blade.

Developer CD PROJEKT RED even thought of new perks you can unlock for vehicle-related abilities like quick hacking, increased collision damage, weaponry boosting, and the use of Cyberware like the Sandevistan, that slows down time. Also, for all you daredevils out there, there's a new stylish animation when you exit a moving car.

Not only that, but the NPCs (no, not the ones from TikTok) finally react to things occurring in traffic. For example, NPC vehicles will switch lanes to avoid obstacles but also try to avoid you while you're on foot in the middle of the road. Pedestrians will behave more naturally and try to get out of the way of danger when you're heading straight for them on the sidewalk.

But these are just a taste of what the devs brought with Update 2.0. All the rest is pretty great, too, like the new police system that will chase you GTA-style when you commit a crime. Or the numerous combat AI enhancements that now make enemies behave the way they should have from the start.

Not to mention the Cyberware, perks, skills, and weapon changes, but most importantly, the implementation of DLSS 3.5 makes the game run better.

Personally, I still can't stand the mediocre dialogue and acting direction. It's bloated with unnecessary lines that lead nowhere important. Sometimes, lines you have to choose during a situation have no logical reason for being there other than the writer simply wanting them there, which is one of the poorest excuses for the art of storytelling.

The text should be helpful to the player, not filled with random, illogical nonsense. Baldur's Gate III is the perfect example, where almost every line from the 174 hours of cutscenes is surgically implemented with purpose.

That being said, Cyberpunk is now a great RPG to get lost in, with great mechanics and exciting gameplay, provided you can stomach the cringy dialogue and bad directing.
