Nissan has finally decided to replace (we hope!) the ugly Tiida-based Versa five-door, its base model in the US model lineup, with a car that’s a bit more pleasant to look at.
The replacement is called the Versa Note and will be aimed at the North American sub-compact market. Even though it will compete with models like the Ford Fiesta or Hyundai Accent, this is ore a minivan-shaped vehicle, which makes it a practical man’s choice.
The Versa Note will be powered by a familiar 1.6-liter engine (same as the Versa Sedan) that produces just 109-horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. It will be coupled to either the standard five-speed manual or an optional Xtronic CVT, which promises to return an impressive 40 mpg highway, 31 mpg city and 35 mpg combined.
Prices will start at $13,990 (excluding destination). Four trim levels will be available (S, S Plus, SV and SL). Deliveries will start this summer across the US.
