Nissan has recently filed a trademark application for the “R-Hybrid” name as an exterior badge, and rumors claim it could be fitted to an upcoming hybrid GT-R supercar.
According to Car and Driver, who took their time to compare a few company badges, the first R in “R-Hybrid” looks just like the R in “GT-R”. Moreover, both writings use the “serif” font, which means that the Nissan GT-R is “the only candidate for the R-Hybrid badge”.
Sure, it sounds a bit far fetched now that Nissan and Nismo are working on a more potent GT-R, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Japanese automaker will develop a hybrid powertrain for the next-generation GT-R, which is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2017.
Or maybe Nissan will do like Toyota did with the Yaris Hybrid-R and offer a track-prepped Micra. Funny, eh?
