Nissan to Launch QR Codes Starting 2012

Technology development is running at a greater speed nowadays, more so than ever before. So in order to keep up the pace, manufacturers of all kinds especially car manufacturers find themselves in a tight race towards cutting edge technology. Also, commerce has taken a new direction these day towards the Internet, thus it became E-Commerce.Trips to dealerships are becoming more rare as both customers and car manufacturers have discovered the fast and relatively simple way of solving things over the Internet.

Toyota's US division Scion recently announced that buyers interested will be able to buy their cars directly through the internet. Furthermore, Nissan is taking a step towards E-commerce as well. Nissan will be the first car manufacturer to offer Quick Response codes for their entire lineup of vehicles starting 2012. The QR codes will allow consumers to quickly find vehicle information by scanning the graphics on their iPhone, or Android and Blackberry devices.

“Nissan’s new QR code program puts important decision-making information at shoppers’ fingertips while on dealership lots, helping sales personnel make a more effective presentation, as well as providing customers with a ‘silent salesperson’ if they are shopping the lot after hours. It’s a true mass market effort across all products and all Nissan dealerships nationwide – part of our pledge to bring innovation to every aspect of the vehicle design, buying and ownership experience.” Jon Brancheau, Nissan of North America’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, was quoted as saying.

Mainly, the QR codes are quick electronic stickers, so the information that pops up can be quite specific, and includes all sorts of vehicle information.
