Japanese carmaker Nissan announced yesterday the Suzuki-sourced Roox minicar is available in Japanese dealerships, with prices ranging in between 1,244,250 ($14,260) to 1,714,650 yen ($19,655).
The Roox, powered by K6A engines mated to a (CVT) and developing 64 PS, is intended for "all the family to enjoy." The engines keep the spirits high by eating, according to Nissan, 15 to 20 percent less fuel than required through the 2010 standards and, at the same time, emit 75 percent fewer emissions than the levels mandated by Japan's 2005 exhaust emission regulations.
The Roox will come in two versions, Highway Star and E/G. The Highway Star is available in six body colors - including two special colors, Mysterious Violet and Luna Gray, while the E/G, also available in six colors, adds Bloom Pink and Aqua Veil Blue.
Both models feature power sliding rear doors (both sides for the Star, passenger side for E/G), Intelligent Key, Push Engine Starter, SRS air bag systems for the driver and front passenger.
"The most distinctive features of the new Nissan Roox are its spacious interior, elegant design and convenient features, such as the double sliding rear doors that provide for convenient entry and exit and a large, low-floor height luggage space. The name Roox was coined from "room" and "max" to convey its exceptionally roomy interior," says Nissan about the car.
The Japanese carmaker has big plans for the Roox, a car provided by Suzuki on an OEM basis. According to its plan, the Roox will sell about 3,500 units a month.
