Japanese manufacturer Nissan pulled the wraps today off their newest contraption, a “super space” minicar, a Cube-inspired vehicle mini. The vehicle will be on display at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, for all to admire "in the flesh" (we, to be honest, find this photo to speak against the ROOX, and not for it).
The ROOX is a four seater, built by Nissan "for all the family to enjoy". Access to the interior is gained by opening the rear sliding doors fitted on both sides. The ROOX offers 580 mm wide and 1,230 mm high access with the doors opened. A low-mounted rear step is also there to help those transporting children.
In fact, the ROOX has been designed with children in mind. Nissan fitted a drink cooler inside the upper glove box of the passenger seat, as well as a storage box under the passenger seat, to be used for storing toys and such.
Technical specification surrounding the ROOX are absent at this point. The only things Nissan mentions ahead of the Tokyo event is that the ROOX features dual airbags and front SRS side airbags. It is also an economic, low mileage vehicle, one which Nissan hopes will persuade small and medium sized vehicle owners into buying it.
And they will be able to do so starting December, when Nissan will put the ROOX on sale. So far, no prices have been released.
The Tokyo Motor Show will also be the host of the Nissan Land Glider, the recently unveiled electric Leaf, the long-lived Qazana concept, the Fuga and the new pride of Nissan, the NV200, this time in Vanette Taxi guise.
