Nissan moved production of their Micra city car from Sunderland in the UK to Chennai in India, as they wanted to make room for the Juke and Qashqai. The latest sales result show they were right in doing so, as sales of the two crossovers are have secured the automaker its biggest share of the European market ever.
However, the move has also hurt the Micra, according to Auto News Europe, as sales have fallen 9.5 percent during the first half of the of this year. This is alarming, since the car was launched in the late part of 2010, and the first full year of sales is the strongest.

“The European markets are now so biased toward diesel and the decision to offer a [gasoline-only version] appears to have been too risky," Carlos Da Silva, an analyst for IHS Automotive, said, linking the lack of a diesel engine with the lack of sales.
