Japanese automaker Nissan has revealed the updated version of its all-electric Leaf model to be sold in Europe starting June 2013.
Built at Nissan's plant in Sunderland, the facelifted Leaf gained a few design tweaks, including a more aerodynamic grille, improved luggage capacity and better cold weather performance thanks to a new heat pump.
But the most important amendment to the car lies in the battery, which now comes with a range boost from 109 miles to 124 miles. Adding to that, Nissan introduced an optional fast-charger that reduces recharging times from eight to just four hours.
There's more good news for Leaf fans, as the EV now comes in three trims instead of just one model. The £20,000 entry-level Visia, the Acenta, and the top-spec Tekna which includes LED headlights, Bose stereo, bigger 17-inch alloys and Around View Monitor.
Nissan announced recently that the Leaf model sales have passed the 50,000 unit mark worldwide.
