Vauxhall Ampera Ambulance Saves Lives and Fuel

The fact that it's electric already means it's got plenty of privileges on British roads, but adding blue lights and turning it into an ambulance will mean you're going to have to always give way to this Vauxhall Ampera.

Voted European Car of the Year, the Ampera was chosen by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust for a trial to see if these revolutionary extended-range electric vehicles can save lives and fuel at the same time.

“We are very excited to be the first ambulance service to trial an electric vehicle that will respond to incidents, reduce our emissions and provide significant savings on fuel costs.  As it has both electric and petrol power we are confident that it is a viable alternative,” commented Richard Smith, Fleet Manager for Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The city is supporting the project by installing electric charging points. Officials hope this initiative will inspire other emergency services to do the same thing.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
