After seeing the Dubai Police's supercar fleet, it is now time to become reasonable and travel to the UK, where the West Midlands Police has ordered a batch of 30 units of the Nissan LEAF.
In case you’re reading this with criminal thoughts in your mind, you’d better think twice! The LEAF electric vehicles won’t become patrol cars, but are set to be used as “Diary” vehicles.

This means that a total of 10 local policing units (LPU) will each use 3 units of the LEAF in order to attend meetings with citizens. The 124 miles (km) range of the Nissan EV is almost triple compared to the average traveling needs of a diary vehicle, which makes the LEAF perfectly suitable for the job.

In addition, the West Midlands Police will also reduce fuel costs thanks to the LEAF fleet. The LPUs will also receive their own charging points and the authorities will only pay GBP1.75 (EUR2 or $2.7) for a complete recharge.
