Nissan’s little Juke has long been rumored to be coming to the Australian market. The similarities between this market and Europe meant small crossovers could prove lucrative if the price is right.
On the floor of the 2012 AIMS in Sydney, a spokesman for the company made the announcement official that the Juke is indeed coming to Australia next year.
“We can confirm the Nissan Juke will come to Australia, with production expected to start in the third quarter of 2013, and we’re excited about expanding our SUV offering locally,” said Nissan Australia spokesman Peter Fadeyev.
The Juke will be sold either in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with the full European engine range comprising of 1.6-liter four-cylinder, 1.5-liter dCi turbodiesel and range-topping 1.6-liter turbo. A selection of either manual or CVT gearboxes will be offered.
